Later in the game, all classes have the opportunity to select a new weapon class for them to learn. The weapons fall under 6 main categories: Heavy Pistols, Sub Machine Guns, Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles and Heavy Weapons. At the time of writing there are 29 in total and not everyone will have access to all of them, regardless of what class they play as. Quite controversially, Mass Effect 2 has quite a limited selection of weapons.

There are 50 achievements in the game and a further 12 if you buy the DLC.Ĥ8 of the original 50 can be achieved in a single playthrough without the DLC and a Mass Effect imported character. If you have loaded a character from the previous title and are feeling up to the challenge, feel free to jump straight into Insanity as the game is no less rewarding even when it is punishingly difficult. If that is the case you might want to go through on Veteran first time and Insanity second. One of the achievements requires you to complete two playthroughs of the game unless you have loaded a character from the first game. If you haven't played the first game, now is the chance to make an important decision. Unlike the first Mass Effect, all of the difficulties are open to you from the start.
